ERSO Fanfare and Commission

I’m thrilled to have been selected as winner of the ERSO Emerging Composers’ competition.

I learned so much from the workshop last Sunday and hope my fanfare embodies the spirit of this dynamic orchestra. My thanks to the orchestra members for their really helpful feedback, to Christopher Stark for his inspirational conducting and to Emma-Ruth Richards who will now be mentoring me in the coming year. Congrats too to the four other composers, all with excellent pieces.

This is an amazing opportunity. I will be writing for Soloist and Orchestra for the 90th Birthday celebration concert at the Dukes Hall, Royal Academy of Music, next February.

After an amazing afternoon on Sunday’s Final Workshop for the ERSO Emerging Composers’ competition, we had a really tough choice to make in selecting a winner. Our fab five finalists were selected from a really impressive set of candidates and the workshop showed why these five earned their places in the final. Each composer had a totally unique approach to creating a Birthday Fanfare for Ernest Read – but the thing that united them was talent! After much deliberation, we are delighted to announce that talented young composition student Alexander Papp is our winner.

February News

A big thank you to the Campanella Orchestra and to its Conductor Sam Scheer for an amazing premiere of ‘A Night of Dreams‘ at St. James Church, Paddington.

I hope to be able to post the recording soon.

In July I will be working with the Cardiff based Ignite Orchestra as an associate composer writing the ‘Ignite Overture‘ to be performed at Dora Stoutzker Hall, RWCMD on the 17th July.

More details nearer the date.

Premiere of “A Night of Dreams”

My orchestral piece A Night of Dreams will be premiered by the Campanella Orchestra on the 1st February at St. James Church, Sussex Gardens, Paddington.

This is by far my most ambitious work to date at 13 mins and this fantastic young orchestra of students from the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal College of Music and NYO Alumna will really raise the roof.

It is a great programme conducted by Sam Scheer and lead by Harry Kneeshaw. Please lend us your support.
